The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is situated in the Southeast of the Arabian Peninsula, bordering Oman and Saudi Arabia. In December 1971, the UAE became a federation of six emirates - Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al-Quwain, and Fujairah, while the seventh emirate, Ras Al Khaimah, joined the federation in 1972.
It is often suggested that Dubai is one of the world's most unique cities. And this comes from the amazing landscapes made up of palm-shaped islands and some of the tallest buildings in the world.
Dubai is known for luxury shopping, modern architecture, and a lively nightlife scene. Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world, dominates the skyscraper-filled skyline.
